Most cell phone chargers are at 1.0 amp or less so it's great for that. Yes, it will charge an IPAD but not quite as fast as it would if it had an actual 2.0 amp output. I did a comparison of charging an IPAD (first gen) using this versus the wall charger and there was a 7% /hour difference (ex: if your battery level is at 20% and you plug this in for an hour your battery level will be about 35% but if you had plugged it into a wall your battery level would be 42%. ). So, while I was disappointed that I hadn't payed more attention to the spec's I'm not going to go to the trouble of sending it back. BTW, the packaging has a nice big 2.1 Amp sticker on it also.... But the size, weight, and price of this was a good all around compromise; just would have been a much better deal if it delivered 2 amps from one output.

I have a Playstation Vita and Needed battery life for longer that 3-7 hours. After purchasing the device I had to modify a male-to-female USB cable. The modification was to allow my Vita to charge. A standard USB connection, or cable does not work. I have found that Sony is not the only company to use a USB charge only connection. It was just hard for me to believe no one makes a cable for this.
Charging the Vita was easy. I just plugged it into the USB cable And that cable into the charger. Charge time appears to be about normal. This would indicate that the output per channel is about 1A. The connection port is also marked 1A, so this would match. There was one reviewer that stated this charger can output more than 1 A, but this is not entirely correct. The device can output 2A, but not more than 1A per connection (1A + 1A = 2A)
