Not as much all around padding as a photo bag, but a very high quality bag with many pockets and water-resistant material. For the person who doesn't want to carry a laptop in a sleeve or book-style bag, this backpack provides protection and a scratch-free interal lining to help you get around with your favorite portable computer.

The Targus A7 laptop backpack is AWESOME! It is constructed of high quality ballistic nylon for durability; the stitching and details are nice. Ample padding is provided for the laptop; it is made of air mesh which also allows the laptop to breathe (and your back!) to prevent overheating. Two front pockets provide quick access (and nice soft lining) for your other gadgetry such as cell phones, iPods, etc. Other features include padded shoulder straps, hidden key storage, pen loops, storage space for books / notebooks and other items.
It fits my 15" MacBook Pro with no issues. Easy access to laptop for airport security. There is plenty of space for accessories like power cord, mouse and external hard drive. Overall I really love this laptop backpack, it is the perfect solution for my laptop and other gadgets for travel - both personal and business. It would be great for commuters or students.

Nothing flashy or bulky, but with plenty of pockets to keep my stuff organized. This back pack is exactly that. Sturdy, with many, many pockets, and light weight (I've read that the backpack is heavy when empty, but I respectfully disagree). I would have liked a key ring in one of the pockets instead of the "secret" keyring in the handle, as I usually carry several keys, pocket knife, mini-multitool, etc in the keyring. A BIG plus is the separate pocket for the laptop. This is great for airport security. I found the perfect backpack.
