I heard a worker dropped his otterbox equiped phone from a crane. It landed face down on a rock and was run over by a hilo. The psi of the rock when ran over caused screen to crack but it still funtioned normally. I bought my otterbox that night. It turned my sleek thin lightwieght galaxy tab into a brick. Its 3x thicker & 3x heavier. But it takes this brutal enviorment with ease. Does not cover mic & speakers and u have to disassemble it to get to sd & sim cards. I have owned 4 different cases, this one is by far most protective.

comes with a hard plastic case which snaps on over the tab.
you then install the outer rubbery case over the plastic case which affixes itself to the hard plastic.
you get a hard cover for the face (convenient for travel)
the cover also doubles as a stand for your desk.
this thing does not budge after installation.
very sturdy and looks like it could withstand a fall from a 10 story building (not that i would try it)

ALMOST perfect case for the Galaxy Tab except for..., March 3, 2011 By AIRBORNE6176 (up in the air...) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: OtterBox Defender Case for Samsung Galaxy Tab - 1 Pack - Retail Packaging - Black (Wireless Phone Accessory) ...the tedious hassle of separating (and later joining) the two (2) plastic halves of this case in order to access the microSD card. Now that I have a 32GB microSD card installed, this should not be an issue. It remains an issue if one needs to fully remove the G-Tab from the case, such as mounting it onto a vehicle adapter. Once the case is together, the microSD card slot is covered by the internal plastic case and the surrounding silicon shell. The power and volume buttons are covered as well, but have pre-formed silicon buttons to cover them for full functionality.
This Otterbox case provides the ultimate in protection for the G-Tab just short of being water-tight. The camera lens and flash on the rear of the G-Tab are still uncovered, but are surrounded by raised silicon and plastic. The front camera and light sensor are covered by the included screen protector (see NOTE: below). There are attached silicon plugs for the 30-pin cable and 3.5mm audio cable ports,... Read more
